Beattyville is governed by a mayor and six council members. The mayor is elected to a four-year term, while the council members each serve two-year terms.

The Beattyville City Council meets the second Monday of each month at 6pm. The meetings are held at the City Hall, located at 61 River Drive, in the Council Conference Room.
