Kentucky State Fair Military Sunday

All active duty and veteran military personnel and their families who visit the Kentucky State Fair on Military Sunday, August 23, save 50% off regular gate admission, pay only $10.00 for a Midway wristband and receive discounts from participating vendors!  Valid Military ID required

Senior Day for those 55 and over is Tuesday, August 25th. $1.00 admission at the game before 6 pm.

Carload Day is Thursday August 20 and 27, $20.00 per vehicle, includes parking.

Midway Daily Wristband Specials, when purchased online in advance: Adults – $20.00, Child (under twelve) $12.00 and on August 24 – $15.00. This does not include fair admission.

Advance Discount Admission before August 19th is $8.00 for an adult, $4.00 for a child and a senior over 55 years of age. After August 19th, these charges increase by $2.00 each.

Parking is $8.00 per vehicle.

Discount admission and $5.00 parking for Kentucky State Fair is available only online at ticketmaster.com and all ticketmaster outlets, including all Kroger and Walmart stores. Offer ends August 19!

Christmas Shop and Chili Supper

On Saturday, December 1, 2012, The Three Forks Historical Center will be hosting a Christmas Shop from 9am to 5pm and a chili/soup supper from 3pm to 5pm. This event is a great opportunity for local arts and craft people to sell their creations, so if you are a craft person and you like to set up please call Bob or Linda at (606)-464-2888. There will be no charge for the set up. Come celebrate the start of the Christmas shopping season with the Three Forks Historical Center before going downtown Beattyville for their Christmas Spirit event. Starting a 6pm there will be a parade, tree lighting, businesses open houses, and pictures with Santa.

Lee County Helping Hands Toy Drive

Shortly Beattyville Housing will be busy turning their office into Santa’s Workshop! They need help from the community because they are accepting donations of new and gently used clothe and toys, as well as sponsorships for their Christmas Program. They serve children from birth to 17 years old. Toys are a crucial part of childhood and children learn may concepts though playing with toys such as how to use their imagination, sharing, and responsibility. Having a favorite toy to cherish is beneficial to children all over the world, no matter their economic status. So, please, if you would like to sponsor a child or a family please contact the Beattyville Housing office at (606) 464-5031 and ask for Lisa or Megan. They are also looking for volunteers and all donations can also be dropped off at their office or mailed to: Lee County Helping Hands, Attn: Christmas Program, 813 HWY 52 West, Beattyville, KY 41311.

Lee County Fair Board Meeting

For the first time, all the organizations in Lee County and Beattyville are putting together a Lee County Fair Board. This board will be responsible to planning and implementing the Lee County Fair. This fair board will search out new vendors and build up competitions in everything from livestock to the best made apple pie. They will get involved with all the school organizations and try to create a spectacular old fashioned country fair. It may take a few building years so if anyone is interested in being involved please attend this first ever Fair Board Meeting. It will be Wednesday, November 7th at 5pm in City Hall in Beattyville.
