The Artist’s Gallery at the People Encouraging People Building is open to the public Mon-Fri 9-5.
People Encouraging People and the Beattyville Art Guild are working together to create a haven for artists of all disciplines to express themselves and celebrate their craft.
Whether a craftsman, painter, sculptor, or performing artist, the Beattyville Art Guild invites all craftsmen, artists and performers to join the movement to create an arts based industry in our community.
Betty Phillips is a local Ceramics Artist with decades of experience. A painter and textile artist, she has grown to love ceramics as a way to express herself and as a medium to help others to express themselves. Active in local schools and other venues, she has given several classes on the art and science of making ceramic art. She will be teaching a class at the People Encouraging People Bldg. starting on February 22.
About Us
Nestled in a valley where the North Fork and South Fork rivers come together to create the head waters of the Kentucky river, rests a true mountain community, Beattyville. With a population of 1,178, It is the center piece of a mountainous, timber covered county with dramatic cliffs, abundant wild life and miles of country roads and waterways. Beattyville (named for a local land owner Sam Beatty in 1843) along with communities named Heidelberg, Tallega, Fillmore, Fincastle and Cressmont, among others, boasts a rich and diverse history of trials and victories which began well before the formation of Lee as the 115th county.
